I USE MY BALLS!
On getting
my posh projection TV, I needed a shelf to put the two VCRs and digi box on.At the very best of times, I am not a good DIYer. Can't saw straight, or hit a nail in properly!
I ordered the shelf and brackets from B&Q, via their web site,
(www.diy.co.uk), and had them deliver. All delivered on time, no probs.The previous night I had lay in bed, planning how to put up the shelves.
1. Find out where the battens, that hold the wall panels are.
2. Drill first top hole, using a rawplug, and temporarily put on the first bracket.
3. Drill the second top hole ........ but, how was I to know where?
a. I knew where the batten was, but how high was I to drill the hole? No spirit level! But, plenty of spirit! Just measuring would not be certain.
b. Eureka! I'll take out one of my balls, put it on the shelf, and if it isn't straight, it will roll.

It all went very well.
