It's a despicable offence." A visibly repulsed Sheriff Elizabeth McFarlane said:  "It's just as well I'm not sentencing you today, it gives me a chance to cool down." McConnell was originally accused of stealing £17,900,  but the sum was reduced after a deal with prosecutors, so that she could be tried in the sheriff court & therefore a lesser maximum sentence .
