The Monday Soiree

A soiree, being an evening of music, refreshment and conviviality, will be held on Monday evenings, commencing at the hour of seven of the clock and concluding at thirty minutes past the hour of ten, or thereabouts, to be held in the Lounge (common room) . The commencement date to be advised.

There is no pecuniary requirement, as you will be a guest of :-

Edward C Aylward

to whom requests to be a guest need to be made.

Guests will be invited according to the timeliness of their reply to this memorandum. The only exception to this proviso being where the guest is an intended entertainer, or will bring an entertainer to the soiree.

The evening will include the playing of various musical instruments, and vocal presentations. Guests may wish to celebrate, or commemorate, an occasion with a particular rendition. Recitations, and the like, will be appreciated. A special welcome will be given to young guests studying for their qualifications in music.

The resident musician will be Carl P H Aylward, on console organ, piano and keyboard/organ. Guest entertainers may be accompanied by the resident musician, or their own. There are also facilities for electronic accompaniment including compact disc, audio-tape, and midi files. They may, if they so wish, avail themselves of the instruments as above.

Intervals will be provided, during which, guests may introduce fellow guests to their own particular favourite recordings.

The evenings are not to be just a presentation of music, but also of conversations, and discussions.

I have been advised that the number of guests must be limited to twenty, plus those who will be entertaining.

Guests may bring their own gastronomic extravaganzas, including alcoholic beverages (these should not be consumed in amounts to cause inebriation!).

Smokers may use the lobby, or on a balmy evening, withdraw to our pleasant gardens.
